Message: I've seen some of the comments and please don't take me wrong.
I know that everyone has their own style, I'm just giving advice about
what is not stylish at this moment. We never know if some famous
fashion designer will mix brown and black leather some day.
But now, it's not fashion and I just wanted you to know it.
Hello dear readers,
So, I don't think you fashionistas would commit such mistakes, but Winter is coming and so do leathers, and I see lots of people on the streets (and sometimes on Stardoll) committing a terrible mistake: mix black leather with brown leather/camel.
So, on the first one there are several errors: my doll is wearing a black leather jacket and a black shirt, but with brown boots and bag. This can never happen, don't ever dress like this. Instead wear all black leather or all brown leather.
I know that you probably don't commit this mistakes, but it's always good to advise, right? :)
Hope I helped!
Thanks for your help ! I would never wear that ! The second picture looks a lil bit bitchy (sorry). NO GO !
ReplyDeletenice advice ;3
ReplyDeleteI would never wear that :L
ReplyDeleteI know :D But yeah I have seen plenty of people doing this mistake by matching black+brown leather :S
ReplyDeleteThey look horrible anyway. ;3 Thanks for the advice.♥
ReplyDeleteI've read, that it's ok to mix black and brown, actually...
ReplyDeleteThanks for your help! ;3
ReplyDeleteIt looks horrible anyway :|
EEEEEWW the first outfit is a No-Go!!
ReplyDeleteI hate the skrit, i looks terrible! but the second is better!
Hey, i have a question: Can you plz present my blog???
Here is it: SDI The Stardoll Insider, www.rafi101.blogspot.com
Thaaaaanks!!!!
Thanks for the advice.
ReplyDeleteactually you can wear it. it's how to wear it. in your pics is definetly a no no but lets teake the first one....take of the skirt add some dark jeans and change that purse for one matching either the brown or black and it's ok. you can wear black and brown leather or any fabric as long as you know how to match it that' the real issue.
ReplyDeleteI agree with both of the anonymous people. You can combine them in an outfit as long as it just looks good together, since they're both neutrals. This isn't my favorite segment.
ReplyDeleteUm. I didnt really like it. Cuz some people might say that thats their fashion and your just saying that its not good..?
ReplyDeleteWell...as long as its not head to toe leather I think u can mix brown and black leather. Besides, top to bottom leather makes a hore-ish, cheap look.
ReplyDeletelooks terrible if u wear leather in 2 diff colours
ReplyDeletethanks 4 the advice:) the first 1 really looks horrible :S
ReplyDeleteYou're right :)
ReplyDeleteIn germany every third person wears black leather jackets or boots. I would wear black leather clothing more to black or red.
honey, fashion may have rules but you see everyone breaking them. Turn them into something patently gauche. So if Gaultier or Lanvin wanted to pair brown and black leather, who'd give a damn to that rule?
ReplyDeleteFashion rules are more like guidelines anyway.
Fashion is about creativity and following rules is definitely not creative. I see a lot of people mixing black & brown very stylish way.
ReplyDeleteTelling people what not to wear is stupid and saying 'i know you would never commit such mistake' is even more stupid, because there are no mistakes in fashion.
Mixing and matching is the point and if someone is gonna think that brown and black look great together, I believe they can make it look stylish (while your outfits look do horrible, I agree on that).
Any fashion designer can told you that if you wear only black (it's just an example) it's too boring! You have to put someting wich can say "I'm original"! Some red shoes or bag go great with a back dress ;) Next time read a fashion blog before you'll say "Wear all black or all brown." again.
ReplyDeletei see that ALL the time! thanks for the tip, i hope i never do it accidentally
ReplyDeleteAhh that is really bad i I would never wear some thing like that!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I agree, hate the first look! The second look is actually okay, but with a different colour dress! It's actually okay to mix brown and black, as long as it's done with style!
ReplyDeleteI totally disagree! But those outfits which were shown were ugly, and that is because of the clothes (not the colours)!
ReplyDeleteI think it's up to each case. And it's plenty of browns shades.
Visit my stardoll, Lauren-D, and see how I wear a cold shade of brown in a jacket, and black ankle boots.
I don't think it's true!! I like to mix black and dark brown and it looks great :) I only agree that your examples are horrible :P
ReplyDeletexoxo Dianusek
Actually I completely disagree. It's such a stupid thing when a person tells you 'Don't mix these two colors because you'll look ugly'.
ReplyDeleteThose outfits are ugly because of the clothes and the styling. A fashionable person can mix those two colors and make a sophisticated outfit in seconds.
Do ask for examples if needed.
I would never wear that lol:D
ReplyDeleteI totally disagree. Fashion doesn't have any rules.
ReplyDeleteIt's not horrible to mix brown leather with black, many people do it with a lot of style, and it's really amazing the way it looks like. It only depends of the clothes. I mean...a black leather skirt goes wonderful with a pair of brown leather boots and a brown jacket, as long as they are the same color of brown. Wearing only black it's boring and so not original.
ReplyDeleteI think you can really make some stylish outfits using the right type of clothes.Yeah u are right lots of people make mistakes and don't know how to wear so thank you for advice
ReplyDeleteThe examples are ugly, but in real life black and brown leather can really work together, like from Hermes Spring 2011
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, I mean, I know people say that you can mix black with any other colour, but you can't mix it with BROWN. It just looks wrong :D
ReplyDeleteDl.eclipse ♥
Is this a challenge?
ReplyDeleteYou can mix it, on a fashionable way... the way you put it in the picture, yeaah it looks offcourse ugly... but i still think that you can mix brown and black leather.. why not?
ReplyDeleteStop this stupid thing,SMW.
ReplyDeleteRespond to the 'Message' before the Paragraphs.. : You Don't Decide whats Trendy and whats Not.! You don't know nothing about Style ... STYLE is Everywhere around. Look in front of you what is person like on the street.. His personality and clothing, Try to figure out what his style is!! EVERYONE Has A Style.> But Everyone has a different one!!
ReplyDeleteyou should do more of these, its like tht show on TLC what not to wear!
ReplyDeleteI love the makeover part on tht
HAHAHA
ReplyDeleteOMG U THINK U KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT FASHION?!!!!
OMG UR TALKING LIKE U KNOW SHIT
1ST OF ALL U ONLY MENTION THE WELL KNOWNED FAUX PAS...
EVERYONE KNOWS THAT THE SHOE DOESN'T HAVE TO MATCH THE BAG
AND WEAR ALL ONE COLOUR IS SO LAME
Please just do us all a favor and don't do this again. Please.
ReplyDeleteok you can state your opinion (I disagree with her also) but do you have to be so stupid about it? that just shows immaturiy
ReplyDelete@ Anonymous (the one who called me stupid with other words)
ReplyDeleteOk, opinion stated, opinion swallowed. As I have explained previously, I am here to help you, to tell you what's fashionable at the moment and what's not. And this isn't fashionable at the moment. Also, I never said that you wear all one color. I said that if you wear black leather, you should not wear brown leather.
And at least don't be a coward and show yourself.
PS: You don't spell "knowed", you spell "known".
Sorry, but I disagree. Fashion is about freedom & experimenting. Every combination is stylish, if we know how to wear it. If we paired up the whole thing right, you will end up in an amazing outfit, rather a trendy one!
ReplyDeleteI want you to know that like a a famous blogger said 'fashion bloggers do not DICTATE, they INSPIRE.'- Bryan Boy
ReplyDeleteFashion police? I see them as little devils hindering the normal flow of style.
good advice ;)
ReplyDeleteTeri has wise words. And Brian Boy. :D
ReplyDeleteI do like the second outfit.
ReplyDeleteEveryone like to wear there doll how they like so you only say what you should not do that what's not good.So I'm with you but sometimes I have to say I see amazing mix with black and brown but everyone dress-up there doll how they like.
ReplyDeleteYou can mix black and brown in some cases. You're right, it looks bad the way you matched it, but it can be done.
ReplyDeleteha its funny cos at this moment i am wearing a black leather jacket and a tan bag (similar to leather in material) and i was wearing tan shows and i personally think my outfit looks great! ha! i mean the exples you used were sort of hideous! I know you mean well but saying things like i know you would never admit such mistakes seems a little condescending . you should do this again becaus ei do think its interesting but perhaps phrase it defferently!
ReplyDeleteI feel most of your readers have misunderstood what you said. You said not to wear black LEATHER with brown LEATHER. The examples of the very cool Hermes Spring 2011 collection ARE NOT BLACK/BROWN LEATHER.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, I find all of this extremely interesting. I have stated before that I have my own style and I almost always ignore "trendy", or "what's in versus what's out". I feel instead of calling your post "What NOT to Wear" you could have named it something less judgmental. Personally, I disagree totally and will try to find enough stuff in my medoll's wardrobe to make my point. Don't know if I can, though!!
What? That is rubbish! Yes, you have to take care to not look like a whore, but the new obsession with camel on the catwalk, mean that brown and black are totally wearble! And 'famous designers' are already mixing them! Dolce and Gabanna A/W has picked up on this idea, and burberry have been mixing pale brown coats with black boots for years! Yes, if you want to advise people - that is fine. However, don't say 'You can't do this' 1. It's wrong and misinformed, 2. That is totally opposite to the idea of fashion! People should be able to try anything, experimentation is the key!

Brown leather could go with black leather. It's all about which shades of brown you use, and how the clothes are used together. If the leather are shiny or not, are an important thing too.
ReplyDeleteI Don't like this 'What not to wear' thing...
ReplyDeleteYou made the outfits ugly yourself, I think anyone can create a fabulous outfit if they used the right clothes.
Sorry but I don't think this is necessary, everyone has there own style...
I totally agree with this post. Of course that may be there is some exeptions but most of the people wear two different colours leather which don't match and thats the whole idea of this advise. Don't be rude if you made that mistake or even you are an exeption. It's stupid.
ReplyDeleteI Do Not Agree At All! Seriously, Brown And Black Looks Splendid Together. Oh! And For This 'Message Thingie', Do You Mean That As Long As Something Isn't Seen On The Runways Of Big Fashion Designers, It Isn't 'Fashion'? That Makes No Sense. One Of The Worlds Most Famous Quotes By Gabrielle Coco Chanel Says The Exact Opposite! I Agree With Miss Chanel.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about mixing leathers together, don't wear it. But brown and black is very common, especially it's a uniform. The clothes look bad together, but the colors I like.
ReplyDeleteHey most fashion is about mixing, and I have seen way worse or interesting on street/fashion blogs and in person.
Who knows what the future is and also in fashion. Maybe someday we all will be wearing a uniform so no one has to say anything. Or sci-fi insipred items^.^

ReplyDelete*if it's. Sorry for repeats. I thought it didn't go through.
