Halloween
Couture Comp
WIN
Rare MKA RC Black Feather Dress
OR $200SD
OR $200SD
Lily et Cie gown
WHAT TO DO:
1. Go to Style.com or search the internet. Find an outfit that epitomizes that dark Halloween style
2. Re-create it. Re-create the look the best you can from head to toe. However, I will mainly focus on the outfits. It can be from any season as long as it fits the Halloween theme.
~Be creative.
You can use album stickers, scenery, stardesign, minishop items or whatever you can think of to re-create the look. NO PHOTOSHOP.
3. Take a screen print and post the pic here in comments. Be sure to post a pic for the outfit that inspired you and don't forget your Stardoll name.
Deadline extended until October 31!
Great Designer ideas for this Comp:
Alexander McQueen
Alexis Mabille
Jean-Paul Gaultier
Versace
Givenchy
Betsy Johnson
Gareth Pugh
Rodarte
Julien MacDonald
Rick Owens
Obviously we are judging based on creativity, so picking an outfit that we have the actual items for on stardoll would not be creative.
EXAMPLES:
Do you have to do just the outfit or the makeup and hair as well?
ReplyDeleteI imagine it would have to be a full outfit - hair, makeup, dress, etc.
ReplyDeleteYou should try and recreate the whole look as best as possible, but I am mainly looking the outfit (heapieces, dress)
ReplyDeleteOkay thanks! I was unsure
ReplyDeleteThanks I included the extra information in the post.
ReplyDeleteI am LOVING this concept! Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteim gonna spend like 154864684651 hours in this comp , that dress is P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N !!!!
ReplyDeleteOooooh I am going to have to think long and hard about this one!! :D
ReplyDeleteCan we use inspiration from different designers?
Gareth Pugh is my all time favourite designer, but I think it'd be interesting to do a mash-up of his pieces and someone elses.
So this is based of the butterfly dress by Alexander Mcqueen, which I've been obsessed with for so long! I made it all with butterflies and used one top underneath. I also added the butterflies to the shoes! My user is emilynicoleee
ReplyDeleteThis is such an amazing comp, can't wait to participate!
ReplyDeleteOther than that...I noticed in every HB poll and other polls too people use way too much SAP. I think that should be forbidden - SAP is by itself very creative, with all those poses, etc., and it is not really fair to use it. I believe SAP is an easy way out - hand poses, huge jackets that cover almost everything. That doesn't really show creativity to be honest.
You look like Effie Trinket :')

ReplyDeleteI have the vision
I have the time
I have the theme
But,I don't have money ;-;
mine in inspired by one of those pictures you posted, that I found really beautiful (: I tried my best although was quite hard for a non-ss like me haha
ReplyDeletewhatsernam3
i am sick of SAP as well, every outfit looks the same :)
ReplyDeleteGreat comp. Here's my outfit inspired by Alice Auaa Fall '13, I just couldn't find anything for those lines.

Wow great contest! I hope I'll find some time to search for an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteNot everyone who use SAP items are uncreative people. I use those, and I spend time composing my outfits, I'm not a lazy person who doesn't care, and I'm sorry if it looks like I'm taking it for myself but what you're saying makes me sad. It's just comps, people are trying things and at least they are participating.. anyway :)
ReplyDeleteI don't envy the judges; these entries so far are very gorgeously done!
ReplyDeleteheres ine u.u
ReplyDeleteits kinda bad but oh well
based off of Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture F/W 2009-2010
I strongly suggest looking into Alice Auaa. She has some terrifyingly amazing outfits :)
ReplyDeleteoh, but viewer discretion advised for some of the younger members if you just google her.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry if I offended you, it wasn't my intention :) And I really love most of your outfits, so yeah lol
ReplyDeletebut what I was trying to say is not that people are lazy so they use SAP, or that they lack imagination. SAP is just overused and neutral enough to be able to fit any outfit - which is absolutely boring. I think the creativity would be more visible if we couldn't use SAP. :)
Finally someone agrees ahh
ReplyDelete1 designer please. Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteYou have to post the actual pictures as I don't click on links. Also, you have to re-create 1 specific look. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI would have a problem with this if the results showed strike a pose entries were constantly winning. However, that has not been the case. Looking back over the last dozen or so comps...with the exception of the strike a pose comp, someone wearing strike a pose only won 1 other time. So I feel it doesn't really make a difference. They are actually hindering themselves unless it is truly creative as many feel the same way about SAP and have not been choosing them. I would rather have people participate. If they like SAP with that entry by all means use it, it is not like it is giving them a better chance of winning. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's why you can use sceneries and album pics etc..
ReplyDeleteYou are right, maybe I'm a bit too harsh haha
ReplyDeleteCan I simply buy the dress? Jesus, I would die for it xD
ReplyDeleteYeah, but then as @Emorox4eva/Jenna said they don't get votes, so is not a problem. It's free to style your outfit however you want.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to all the contestants!
ReplyDeleteThis one is way too difficult for my paltry skills, but I can't wait to see what others do with it.
No you are entitled to your feelings. I was just explaining why I haven't banned it at this time :)
ReplyDeleteEh slightly disappointed in this.
