Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day is organised each year in February to promote safer and more responsible use of the Internet and mobile phones, especially among children and young people. It was first organized in 2004 and it continued to grow each year. This year it is celebrated today, on the 10th of February and its strapline is "Let's create a better internet together". Stardoll is one of the participants in this campaign.

Noelani created a special video dedicated to Safer Internet Day, and you can also take part in Stardoll's quiz and win a special gift here. If you haven't done it yet, you should also do Stardoll's safety quiz here and unlock the Safety Whiz achievement. Click here to read Stardoll's One Stop Rules.
Few tips on how to stay safe on the Internet (both on Stardoll and other sites):

1. When you're creating a password make sure to use a mix of upper and lower cases and numbers. Don't use passwords that are easy to guess, such as your pets name, your birthday and similar. Don't reveal them to anyone and if possible use different password for different websites.

2. Don't reveal your personal data such as birthday, phone number, credit card number and address. You might never know who's the person behind the account.

3. Don't respond to any kind of bullying. Report it and take a screenshot. Answering bad words with bad words only makes the situation worse.

4. Remember that behind every username, there's a real person with real feelings. Don't insult them and don't spread the hate. If you insult someone by accident, don't be afraid to say sorry.

5. Use antivirus and adblocks. They can save you from all the trouble with viruses and annoying adverts. Try to avoid webpages that are not trusted and safe. Speaking from personal experience, I'm much happier with them, since I don't see ads on how to lose weight in short time, win a TV or lose unwanted hair on every step of mine.

6. Don't agree to meet with strangers. In case you still do, bring along a friend and be sure that at least two more persons know where you're going and when you should come back.
