Hi everyone,
So, I have really been trying to figure out what exactly is considered rare (items that are sellable) these days besides Dkny and season 1 & 2 LE.
I want to build up my stock of items for comps and giveaways, but am confused in this new Stardoll world. I see things that are just old items, that we had no value for or didn't even like... now being called rare.
Can you guys please comment and help out so I know what clothes to look for? I appreciate your help so much!

Artemis skirt was rare. Callie's picks ruined it. The same goes for 2008-2010 hotbuys, from which some were pretty rare. Most of them Callie released.
ReplyDeleteThen, as you probably know, MK is rare.
And, since Young Hollywood is sellable and many of their pieces are stunning (and lets not forget they are limited), many would give their everything just to have some pieces. So would I :D
Elizabeth and James, 4th season LE (very popular!), Stylein, Amyclaire, every kind of Tribute store (Givenchy, Herve Leger, Gucci) and lots of long-time released 'common' items mostly from Bizou, IT girls and Archive, which are unique and hard to find.

ReplyDeletehope it ok posting pictures as it is easy this way these items are hard to find anyone selling them and are wanted also the MK pin broach is wanted and for now is rare :)
so in the pic you have the yellow sweater wanted the long skirt wanted the YH the 1st 3rd and 5th dress wanted the one on it own is wanted and then you have the four Mary / kate dressed are wanted
I really don't know what is rare and what isn't, but I am crossing my fingers, hoping that this blog doesn't just become a competition blog. Almost every post is a contest. It's not a bad thing, just might attract the wrong audience.
ReplyDeleteFor sure LE, but mainly collections 1-5. Some items from 6th like for eg. lace sleeve spring coat, gold chain moto jkt and paperbag skirt. Also wreaths from 11th are wanted items. Long shirt from 1st Yh, white fur from strike a pose. Also Givenchy and Sonia Rykiel tributes are rares, smile sweater and long shirts from Moschino, DVF headbows, bags from chanel tribute shops. Elle blazers and Elizabeth and James. Some clothes from "normal shops" like: sk8er beanne, bisou flower sketch dress, some bisou blazers, breakfast at tiffany's items like hat, some Twiggy's clothes, Amy claire black tank top (+ some dresses). And many more... :)
ReplyDeleteI actually like that it is more a competition blog, we have USD for news, and many other blogs dedicating to delivering only news. When I follow a blog, I want to see something different, not the same stuff hundreds of other blogs post about.

ReplyDeleteWell, let me bring my contribute. For me, the Mortal Kiss Boys is very difficult, kinda very rare now. I think this is due to the fact that it is old and at that time, girls were not really interested in buying them and that the many of the few boys and girls who buy it are not here anymore.

Problem is, everybody has their own opinion on what is rare or not.
ReplyDeleteI agree with most of what was said here and in a nutshell the stuff that was considered rare when u left still is, then there is the LE collections u missed (some items more than others) and the famous tribute stores.
Also, some have mentioned Young Hollywood but forgot the mini YH collections (I apologize if I missed a post) that have come out after Stardoll stopped making full collections for that store.
This is a skirt from one of those YH mini collections and very sought after (the only item I ever bought for 600SD in StarBazaar, yeah it hurt...)
I agree Ana, the YH mini collections are so limited and almost sold out in few minutes, right?
ReplyDeleteFor example at this last collection I missed the 2 dresses, Stardoll didn't have release the collection or even spoilers at the time they usually do and I went out for a few minutes with my niece and nephew and when I came back I was shocked to see the collection had been released and the dresses, gorgeous by the way, were sold out :(
Good question, I'm as confused as you are, because it seems like most
ReplyDeleteitems bought before 2011 are now considered as rare, plus items Stardoll
chooses to label as limited, tribute, rare etc. But I think you should
be careful with these competitions & gifts, as it would attract the
wrong people to your suite & blog. I think the biggest mistake
stardoll made was creating & introducing the rare culture into the
game through labels like rare, tributes, hotbuys, limited etc because it
has led to so many problems they can't control & they try to put
the blame on their members. And this has led to ordinary items being
classified as rare because they were sold to a smaller stardoll
population at that time & this means the older your account is the
more rarer items you'll have even if you're not into the silly rare
culture & that puts your account at risk. And stardoll through their
greed, cannot see where the root of one of their biggest problem is
& as long as they keep releasing their sub couture, strike a pose
etc as limited or rare items, that problem would never go away &
they will keep pretending to try & solve it by re - releasing old
items or giving them out as free gifts to make it look like their
members are at fault. Stardoll may teach people to communicate with each
other but it also encourages jealousy & greed. To be honest the
rare culture annoys me.
Exactly mailgirl101, that's my fear - the wrong crowd. You want to attract people to the blog because they like it & are not expecting anything more, having too many competitions with gifts would attract false suite & blog friends. Don't get me wrong, I like competitions but the reward should mostly be being featured on the blog for a specified time & the gifts should be kept to a minimum. This blog was formerly not just about competitions (or else I won't be here) it was also about stardoll news, tips & gossip. USD is now crowded & a lot of the earlier readers have been put off by that, this blog was around the same time as USD & used to do similar news & gossip so why change that now? Once most of the USD crowd comes here, I'm out.
ReplyDeleteI was lucky enough to get the 986th Hudson gown when I spotted the release! Unfortunately I missed the Lupita gown, I searched for it desperately in the next few days, but I haven't found it and I gave it up since then...

ReplyDeleteI'm really sorry you feel that way, but if you look back to the beginning of the blog it originated as a competition blog. That is what I always wanted the primary focus to be. I enjoy the comps and the creativeness it inspires. Yes there a few bad apples, but usually not enough to ruin it for everyone. I no longer click on links which was an issue for me. As far as the prizes... again if you look my aunt started this with Sparkle Magazine and the reason we did it was to help those who couldnt afford it or couldnt do it on a regular basis. I enjoy helping people and I believe there are more good then bad. Yes, the prizes are big now, but we are trying to get our following back. The comps won't be as frequent and as big once we are established again. Also we were here awhile before Underneath Stardoll and before I left were still bigger than them, I believe. Yes we did Stardoll news and other info, but they were always meant to be secondary. While I hope to have some of that on here it will never be our main focus. Like I said I enjoy the prizes. I enjoy having more entries. I think it challenges everyone and makes people more creative. The prizes are for the fun, but it does give 's thpeople the incentive to work harder. Most of the trouble makers get discouraged and I don't think it ever changed the fun we had during comps. Anyway, I hope you stay, but I am really sorry if you and @mailgirl101 go. In the end I have to stay true to me and what I enjoy doing because if I don't enjoy it... what's the point.

ReplyDeleteThe last mini collection inspired by the Oscar is not sellable yet, however the other mini collections are already sellable, ok? There was also a collection near Halloween with some costumes, ok?

I would contribute but what holds me back is that I am always afraid of not getting news on time (due to school... sometimes I am there for 12 hours and I just really feel tired afterwards, plus, I live in a different timezone) and English is not my native language, although I speak and write fairly well.
ReplyDeleteThe competitions are great but they're almost the same - outfits, outfits, outfits. I think it'd be great if you would hire someone who carries news and so on. I know, there are other blogs for news but SMW has always been the number one for me, therefore, the only Stardoll blog I actually care to read.
I am really glad to see that you're doing what you like, Jenna! But posting news, interesting outfits, weekly themes, fashion picks and so on would only attract people for longer, not a competition or two.
May I ask one question? Why are a lot of people here talking about USD negatively? I haven't been on that blog for a while but it seems like people have mixed feelings about it.
That's impossible and weird, I saw the exact same items under the Young Hollywood category, I kept founding them while searching for the Lupita gown.
ReplyDeleteNo, this last collection is not sellable yet dear. I bought the menwear and the items don't appear at the items I can sell, so the items that are at the bazaar now, from this collection, are being sold by illegal ways, ok?

ReplyDeleteThe pink and orange dress was released in 2010 for the Couture Tribute store. It's got value, but it's not rare.

ReplyDeleteThese items are well sought out. Some of them are rare (Mortal Kiss dress on the far right, the Young Hollywood dress on the far left) and others, mainly the shoes sell extremely well in Starbazaar but are definitely not rare.

ReplyDeleteI got some of those items in the stores when they were released and some others in bazaar but all of them when I bought were in stardollars, so when they created the starcoins, one of my dresses that I bought 333 stardollars at bazaar, now has a tag of 333starcoins which means 33sd, that is really ridiculous, right?
ReplyDeleteSince black litas were relased in Callies Picks they aren;t so expensive. Also Elle shirt whith colorful dotts is sold in bazaar for less than 100sd.

ReplyDeletebut you must have luck.. I search for the boots the skirt and both blouses and the cheapest was 600... most of it you find in Facebook and they sel it for real money or more then 600 + tax...

ReplyDeleteThose are the LE Steampunk Platforms. They're from the last LE collection of 2012. They were originally 40sd instore although nowadays they can get a bit pricey in Starbazaar (100-150sd from what I've seen), They are sold pretty often though, so they're probably not going to be that hard to find for a decent price.
