MEMBERSHIP TERMS CHANGED

Stardoll has just recently changed their Terms of Use Membership terms...there are at least 20 terms for members to accept, and looks like Stardoll is jumping on the bandwagon and are really strict about it this time...

Basically what they're saying here is that they made changes to the rules and adding new info, regarding mostly copyrights, privacy policy, yadda yadda yadda... I mostly just skimmed through it without reading it properly, but something caught my eye.

Makes me wonder...how about graphics? Magazines? Blog banners? Does that mean we have to make Stardoll graphics only if we have a written consent by the Stardoll staff themselves? What do you think of the new terms? Do you agree with them?

  5. Wait! don't you think stardoll can be sued for copyright of "Idressup.com" Uhh that magazine below has some of there property in it.

No it does not mean the end of blogs. I think blogs are an exception to these terms, it says not to sell, distribute, copy, disseminate, publish, send or circulate Stardoll Materials to 'another person', I'm not sure what that means in the case of blogs, but as of now, I'll just have to contact Stardoll to get a better understanding...

  14. I don't agree with the privacy issue, I would never give them my personal details. They are out of control with the hacking & stealing on their site yet they want us to trust them with personal details. The only reason they have my phone number is because I pay by phone. They want to be watchdog & send you promotions, this could also be part of the agreement they have with other companies. If you notice on other free gamesites you have the option of filling in your details to other companies in return for something only if you wish. But in the case of stardoll you MUST do that. They act like stardoll is a necessity no one can do without. You either opt in or out & I'm out.

Have you guys heard of a game site called lady popular? Where your avatar can sleep, eat, go to work & go shopping. I found it last week you might enjoy it, I may get tired of it as it's time consuming.

  16. im just confused :/ what do magazine/blog owners do because thats alot of people who need to write a consent to stardoll. to tell the truth i think there just making it up so that members think there going to be safer. which maybe they will but how is a 10 year old (for example) understand what that means? x

  18. Those of us who've taken tinypics of our outfits, and even use our medoll faces on our signatures??? What's SD thinking we should do here? I really missed all that when I was reading it.

Maybe we should have a blog owner write to them and ask about all this?

  19. I think that means we can't use our Medolls on our blogs, twitter... I really want to stay on Stardoll so I deleted all the pics showing my MeDoll on Twitter and blogs.

  20. Wow, I just typed a long post and lost it!!! I keep forgetting to copy and paste incase of any errors.

Anyways, my points were. How would they know you copied their graphics. Just because a graphic looks similar doesn't mean we copied them. They don't own the rights to creating dolls in Photoshop and or any other editing program. And if they're going to stalk our blogs and throw out accusations just because they have nothing better to do than they're retarded and seriously need to get a life! It's not copying if it came from your own imagination. So I don't even see how they would prove it. And what a silly thing to say. So, we add hair to our medolls sometimes and they look better? Are they jealous?!? lol. Puhhhleease.

Facebooks users get to log into Stardoll with their Facebook accounts. And Facebook will track and list all of their latest activities in Stardoll. If I'm understanding correctly. Which is great for the Facebook fanatics!

One that I think is quite unnecessary is this one. Stardoll has the right to contact and hand out info posted on the website to Police or similar authorities if we suspect that a crime has been committed, and please note that it does not require a legal offense to have your account terminated. Do they ever report hackers?!? Isn't hacking against the law? I really don't see the point of making this statement-law when every time someone gets hacked they think we gave up, gave up our passwords and hacked ourself! XD

And the obvious, do not sell your account )even though everyone will still anyway). However, if you do sell your account, you are still responsible for anything that happens to that account (duh). Which I'm pretty sure we all knew anyway. But I still think it's pointless because nothing in Stardoll ever gets taken to court anyway. The worst thing that can happen here is getting hacked? And even the hackers walk free :D

  21. "Stardoll does not provide any warranties against viruses, spyware or malware that may be installed on your computer."
?! Does that mean that stardoll has viruses?!?

  29. Do We Need To Click Or Press 'Accept'? Otherwise, How Does Stardoll Know When Accept The Changes?

  30. I think the outrageous thing is having permission from them to use our OWN medolls in a graphic, or using "their" clothes in a graphic. Considering the clothes they used are based off of real life designers I mean they don't get permission from them I'm guessing. So why do we have to ask them? They don't ask so we should? Haha, made me laugh. I'm probably going to leave before I get deleted, since I curse like a sailor, down others, and buy accounts.

Hopefully my life will be much better without this hellful site.

  32. Get Lost Stardoll! Im sick of them. On the side of making graphics, you can always start from scratch but that is time consuming.

  33. Rule 8; we own the rights to any material made by ourself on stardoll

rule 9; you can not use stardoll material.... (stuff is listed)

rule 9 kinda defeats the purpose of rule 8 don't you think...
