Just take a time-out...

UPDATE: Turned on the news after getting home. Aftershock of 6.0, 10,000 missing, death toll rised to 1,300 and nuclear plants blasted. Aid from foreign countries is on it's way.
CLICK TO VIEW BBC'S LIVE COVERAGE

And reflect on something. I think this is something that has deeply affected me, and I want to know how you feel about it too.

I am sure most of you have heard about the Earthquake with an 8.9 magnitude in North-East Japan, that resulted in a tsunami. Most of North East Japan is...well, demolished. There's 600+ people who have lost their lives. Many more will have been injured, too. Nuclear power-plants have exploded, but so far, there's been no serious damage from radiation. The Japanese PM declared a National State of Emergency yesterday, and many countries have already offered a helping hand with aid and rescue teams.

I guess I just want to say next time you whine because you don't have the phone you wanted, or that luxurious handbags, just think of everyone affected by the Earthquake and Tsunami. They've lost their houses, their jobs, their lives. The tsunami is still building-it's hit Hawaii, but it's getting stronger by the second. It's predicted to be as high as Pacific Islands.
I actually cried when I saw these images on BBC news yesterday and today. Yesterday, I woke up at the usual time, and because it was 7am, BBC Breakfast always talks about their main headline. It talked about the Earthquake, and I just sat there, speechless.

I mean, it's not as though they knew. Most the people that died were probably thinking about plans that they had made...plans that will never happen.
I think to me, this was a BIG wake up call. I have so much, and although I try not to take it for granted...I am still human. But what annoyed me is that people were laughing about it. How can you laugh at the fact that hundreds have lost lives, and many more will?

All my condolences go out to everyone affected by the Earthquake and/or Tsunami.

And when you sit there complaining...don't. Think about what you have, not what you don't.The thing is, I don't think this will generate sympathy as much as the Haiti ordeal, simply because Japan has money. I know it's wrong for me to say that, but I think in a way, it's true.

Also, we won't even care after a month or two. I mean, look at the NZ EQ that struck Christchurch. That's already out of the news. We forget about natural disasters so quickly-but the thing is, it's scarred their lives forever. They need help, and I have to say, I myself am ashamed of the fact that I've forgotten about the natural disasters that have happened previously. Haiti's still a mess, Pakistan's people are helpless after the floods, and NZ people are still in need of help. I wonder how long it'll be until we stop thinking about the Japan EQ and Tsunami.

Sending condolences to everyone affected by the Japanese earthquake and tsunami. No-one deserves this, no matter what they've done. The pictures are extremely moving. The tsunami continues. The death toll rises. The aftershocks are on their way. The mourning is just beginning.

But help is on the way.

Stay strong, Japan. Keep faith. Help is coming.

AND...
Stardoll members are doing their bit!!

For example, AbiiBabeh..x has created Japan Aid shirts. Show your support!

Many people, including myself, have decorated suites, created pictures, changed presentations...

I have also contacted Stardoll asking them to set up some sort of donation system:
Their offices are closed so I aint expecting a reply anytime soon :(

Also, if you have a twitter, then please tweet #PrayForJapan, make your own or visit someone's twitter and RT a tweet.

I know this isn't related to SD, but there are many members from Japan and it's something that's affected me a lot.

Have you been affected by these images?
Have you experienced any of the disasters first-hand?
Do you have friends and family in Japan?
Are you soon to be affected by the tsunami?

  7. It''s devastating. It's relaly weird how people can moan bout paying 7 or 8sd for a top, when people in Japan, don't even have 8 pence! Thankyou for posting about those tees! xxxx

I know what you mean. It's horrible.
But I can't belive you still think at StarDoll! What the hell is with you people?! Japan will dissapear and we all will die in the next years. I'm just a 13 years old girl but I'm worried because my future children will die when they will be about 5 years old!
You guys are horrible! When a tragedy happen you make T-shirts to get money. For what? To dress a stupid image from your desktop?!
Wake up people! It isn't all about StarDoll!
People lost their FAMILIES and you still play with your dolls?!

  9. Horrific events like this unite us all in our desire to reach out and help. There are many humanitarian groups taking donations for Japan right now if you want to donate help. Japan will need our help for a long time. I think we are all "praying" for Japan in our own ways. I know I am.

  10. My teacher showed us that video clip yesterday. It showed a person waving for help. All I could think about was what if that was my house, my family, what if that was me? I really want to show my support for this. Also, the tsunami is heading toward Hawaii, and I have friends that live there. I hope and pray they will be safe.

  11. Many of you have probably seen or heard about the 2012 movie, right? If you look well, more of these disasters happen ... the truth, even if we do not want to believe, is that the world is ending! There are tsunamis, earthquakes, storms that are not normal ... live your life to the fullest, because NO ONE is free from these disasters, we can not prevent any of this ...

I was shocked at the pictures and videos ... and when I saw those huge waves in the ocean to come ... I was shocked, sad, crying, thinking about what can happen to all of us and tried to imagine the panic and suffering of people knowing that after the earthquake, a huge tsunami was coming!

I'm very scared about tsunamis and everything that is natural disasters ... show ur support, we will all pray for them!

  17. I was very effected by this. I have family out in Vancouver right now and they're on tsunami watch so I'm also very worried and emotional. I have a presentation on it and soon I plan to create some shirts also to help out.
It's true what you said.. the media only cares about current events. Haiti is still a complete wreck over a year after their crisis and yet the news is more interested in current events when Haiti still needs help.

I agree a donation place should totally be in order.. I know what Club Penguin used to do for 'Toys for Tots' was for every hundred or so virtual dollars you donated the company would pay them a dollar. I think that's smart... then again, I don't mean to be mean but Haiti needs money more than Japan because as you said, they actually do have money..

  18. when i found out about the earthquake, i was devestated. it left me speechless, and i felt like i could help, im going to talk to my school counseler during a meeting with a group of kids like me who want to make our school a better place. i will tell her that we should do a BIG coin drive, its not much but our school one time raised over 1,000 us dollars for the haiti earthquake.

  33. You wrote somewhere in there that no one deserved this NO MATTER WHAT THEY HAVE DONE... Just saying, some people deserved it and had it coming... Karma is a bitch! I once saw a video of a Japanese or Chinese girl killing a kitten with her stiletto heels, she stepped on the poor little kitty's eyes and much MUCH more that I don't even want to go into detail of *Shivers* It is the most disgusting thing I've SEEN!! I HOPE she died in that tsunami, I do! That is my STRONG opinion! And I KNOW for a FACT that there are other horrible people down there.... I feel horrible for ALL the other GOOD hearted people who died, it just breaks my heart that this would happen to innocent good people! I don't have a religion so I wont pray but warm thoughts and such to the victims and the victims families and friends! -Selena

  39. @Hunnlgall:
Yes, I did. And that's my personal view. I know there will be people who deserve Karma to get back at them-and you're right, Karma can be a bitch-but I still don't think they deserve all that. I do believe in God, and it's some people's belief it's God's way of punishing them-I personally believe he is testing the rest of the world. I don't think anybody deserves to die a death this way.

But of course you're entitled to your own opinion [:

There are tsnami warnings for other countries too... and I also I live in N.Z and the earthquake news is still going. Maybe not for other countries though.

  43. I don't get why most always have to throw religion or God into. Not everyone is religious, some may be spiritual, etc. But yes most of these are written through out time. And a few may may even put HAARP into it.

But thankfully some that I know are okay. I just have a strange feeling about that power plant and the missing train. It very sad and shocking this is like seeing Hurricane Katrina again. I know Japan and the others will get help. I don't like it when people compare events much. But that's just me.

I don't think people forget these events, just because it may not be on the media. Most always remember these strange days.
Hopefully if you have family they're okay and the others will be found. R.I.P. and best wishes.

  59. Hi, nice post!
I have been living a nightmare since yesterday, because I believe, and I feel, that whenever anything like this happens, anything so terrible happens, it's like I die a little bit. Because we are all humans, we are all the same, and every single person is an extension to my existence.
And that could have happened here, where I live...I grew up in a place where earthquakes aren't rare at all, so I'm kinda used to the feeling. I've never lived anything as big as what happened to people in Japan, but I do know that feeling the earth moving beneath your feet makes you feel small and vulnerable, and of course terrified. I just can't bring myself up to imagine what it would be like to experience an 8.9 Richter degree earthquake, followed by a tsunami. The though of it alone scares the crap out of me!
My heart completely goes out for the victims and their family, and even though I've been feeling really sad since yesterday, somewhere deep in my humanity I found the enough strength to sit up straight and pray my heart out. All my energy's in Japan now, hope it makes a difference. Maybe if we all send out positive energy, it would.

  67. I was thinking about the Stardolls-cash thing too...I REALLY hope they do this!! It will DEFINITELY make their site popularity much higher (Stardoll-CEO speak.) and knowing I CAN donate that much money just through a site...it fucking makes me feel better. I have never EVER donated ANYTHING ever and knowing I can do this through a site I waste my time on-it makes me feel great. I seriously fucking hope Stardoll does this. And hey, AbiiBabeh..x could donate all the SD she gets from the shirts and it could go to the campaign Stardoll could make! Well, now I fucking hope Stardoll does this.

Apart from my swear words, I seriously have been feeling useless all day. I'm too young to do anything and after I heard what happened, I seriously felt worse. I hope ALL the countries hit myy natural disasters get help!!

    Btw @hunnIgall
A girl killed a kitten like that?! WHAT THE FUCKING HELL?!! That makes me even more depressed!! I hope she dies too, I don't care if "no one" should have to die like that but that's just fucking psychotically messed up!!! ARGHH!! I hope karma kills all the other people who did disturbing things like rape, torture, traffic girls, or kidnap. No one should have to die like that but some people deserve it.

    I'm praying for Japan, even though I'm a scientific non-believer supposed-to-be Catholic.

To all that don't care or laugh at the people suffering; you need to open your fucking eyes and pretend to lose your fucking favorite porn site or sex toy because obviously you care more about pleasuring yourself then anything else. Go die in a spider-shaped shark/fox hole you sick assholes.

  70. I totally understand everyones concern. But in times like this I think it's better to focus on positive things like what people an charities are already doing to help instead of focusing on all this pain and destruction. Seeing those pictures and watching those videos is so depressing. I don't feel like it's really improving the situation it's just making me sadder. Let's all join together and stop focusing on the bad and try to come up with a solution to the problem instead!

  75. I think it's really nice of you to make a post about something so serious. Like you, I was blown away and stunned by so many bad things and consequences the earthquake had on Japan... :( If it was only earthquake there wouldn't have been so many bad stuff happening cause they are used to them (there are about 5 earthquakes by day in Japan) but that tsunami that hit them caused all those accidents and death of so many innocent people... I really hate seeing people being hurt like that, it teares my heart apart that I can't do anything to help them... I think it's nice some Stardoll members are trying to show their support and I think we should follow their example. Also, the idea you've sent to Stardoll is brilliant and I really hope they'll accept it. It would be great to do something for them...
This kind of terrible accident makes you think about your own life and your behaviour... I really appreciate everything I have much more now, especially my family and friends. I can't imagine how it must have been for all those poor people who lost their family members or friends... I really hope they will get all help needed and that they'll be able to recover somehow from all of this...

I will not pray for the victims because I don't have a religion but I hope the best for them through these difficult times.

The year passed, and with a lot of help they could stood up some restaurants, because they live of the tourism. This March 11th, The goverment told them that a new tsunami was coming. That night at 2.3O hours the tsunami came againg and destroyed all the new restaurant and emergency houses. Now they lose everything.

About Japan I think its awful! the little childs that lost their families and dont understand what is happenin' :'( I almost cry when I see the news

  85. Wow I can't believe a few of the ignorant comments on here. Even if it’s your opinion. You don’t like it, please don’t make rude judgments or move to the next topic. You can't group people based on one or two, that’s a bad stereotype.(I heard about that women story, thankfully I didn’t see it. That's crazy, sick and wrong.) But it shouldn't be about race or religion, but many out there put those together. Just glad most offer good wishes.

A disaster is still a disaster, no matter where. For those few rude comments show some respect. ~shouldn’t be getting upset here, but I just can’t stand rudeness~

Glad you made a post. It's gotten even worse now. I'm not a tv/news watcher much. But I keep worrying, especially for the safety of everyone missing and the few more I know.  Also the people in the West Coast and surrounding countries please stay safe.

  89. My dad lives in Japan just hours away from Tokyo. He is an American citizen working as an English teacher abroad. So, I'm very worried about my father and his family. I have yet to get a hold of him. As far as I know he was thankfully no where near the tsunami so that is a good thing but I'm sure they were affected by the earthquake. My condolences go out to everyone who died or lost loves ones to this awful tragedy.

  90. I Heard About Something Like This On The Radio, But It Not Being Music I Wasn`t Very Interested. Now, I Feel Sorry That I Didn`t Take The Time To Listen To What Those Poor People Are Going Through!
No One, Not Even My Worst Enemy, Should Go Through Anything Like That. I Can`t Imagine Just What They`re All Going Through.

I`M THINKING OF EACH & EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!

I`m Not The Type Of Person Who Prays, But Now I`m Praying For Them!

  92. I feel badly for all those involved but would like to know how a T-Shirt designed by AbiBabeh..x is gonna help Japan victims. It is not so do not see the point. If Stardoll has something to donate stardollars to convert to cash then people could donate that way rather than buy a deisgn by Stardoll members!
