Hey everyone! Welcome to my first trend and anti-trend segment, I'll be showing you what's in and what's out. These could include - Hairstyle, clothes, suites, dolls, accessories - general trends, you name it! This time I'm going to choose clothes. Let's start on a good note with the trends, shall we? This week's trend is...
TURTLENECKS!
Now, stardoll doesn't really have many turtlenecks, downer right? But trust me, there are a few on the site and can be found in shops such as Fallen Angel, Pretty in Pink, and Rio! Those in the picture above are just a few, and as you can see, they're quite simple, which is great.

And now, the anti-trend. FLORAL CLOTHING. Come on people, it's almost Autumn/Fall, why are you still stuck in Spring? Florals are out.

ReplyDeleteI like to see turtleneck on my doll or on the runaway but I just can't wear them in real life. I feel the urge for gasps of air. It's like I can't breathe. I love florals very very much and they were my favorite trend this summer but.. eeek! I can't wear them in fall! It just seems so strange!

ReplyDeleteI dont like hiding neck with sweater. Btw, such sweaters lead to fasten old skin on neck. So think twice, before wearing these in real. Therefore we have scarfs and other attributes to wear outside in cold weather.
ReplyDeleteAbout floral, I agree, but there are many flowers in autum too, but colors are more to brown, orange, red.
Just a question to author. Do u have cold weather in your country? I would love to keep this warm weather as longer as possible :D

ReplyDeleteSorry, but why do you assume that everywhere is like where you live? Don't you know that when it's fall in the North, it's spring in the South?
ReplyDeleteSo, while turtlenecks may be trendy in northern countries this time of year, floral-print clothes may be all the rage in southern countries.
And in places like Central America (where I live), there are only two discernible seasons: dry and wet. And the weather is warm even when it rains. Turtlenecks will never be popular here.
It's not my intention to be rude, and it's really not your fault to make such assumptions and generalizations. It just goes to show how powerful trends are. In this case, not a fashion trend, but the centuries-old trend of domination of the North over the South.
Anyway, there are really no seasons in Stardoll world...at least, not in my suite and not for my MeDoll. ;)

ReplyDeleteFlorals are not out, and will not be for a while. They are still in, but are getting a makeover for fall in orange, brown, nude and bourdon tones.

ReplyDeleteFlorals are the opposite of out.
They're in a lot of fall/winter shows, including Louis Vuitton, Dries van Noten (Omg I love that collection!), Prada (Just a small part), No. 21, Fendi (Some of the skirts) and Nina Ricci.
I dont like so much florals . :D

ReplyDeleteI'm kinda traumatized with tight turtlenecks, 'cause it was part of the ugly school uniform when I was young and innocent LOL - but loose turtlenecks are so classy and cool. Specially, turtleneck dresses - very sexy. Don't you think?

ReplyDeleteI have to disagree completely. I think turtle necks are hideous and remind me of the 90's and I love florals! I think you can wear them in winter too, just tone down the colours. It's also going in to summer in the southern hemisphere so I think it's a bit of an assumption to say that 'we' are going into autumn.

ReplyDeleteI know Jillz, I had bad memories of those too tight and itchy turtle necks.^.^ They don't look good on everyone, but some love it. I guess it works for smaller chest ladies better. I like the cowl, asymmetrical, and mandarin neck better.
